You are part of the now in me. After saying goodbye to a beloved partner, memories weave in and out of our minds and hearts, sometimes as fragile as soap bubbles. Am I really remembering that? Are my memories accurate? If only you could ask for clarification but the one person who could fill in the details is gone.
Our memories are now my memories.
Photos solidify those memories — as does writing. Take time today to remember and capture one memory — write down all the good, all the love, all the comfort. Tell the story — even if the telling is just for yourself. Read it aloud. Yes, there will be tears. And, if you have someone in your life who will hold your memory gently, share it.
Receive their comfort. All the comfort a person can give.

I started doing this 18 days since my husband’s passing away and continue to do it. It’s not done every day but I do write to him, telling him about what has happened during the day. It continues to be a comforting thing for me to do.
